Genesis Chapter 11

The whole earth was of one language and of one speech.
As they traveled from the east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar and lived there.
They said to one another, Come, let us make brick and burn them thoroughly. They had brick for stone and asphalt for mortar.
They said, Come, let us build a city and a tower with its top in the heavens. Let us make a name for ourselves lest we be scattered across the face of the whole earth.
The Lord came down to see the city and the tower that the children of Adam had built.
The Lord said, Behold, the people are one and they all have one language. This they begin to do, so now nothing that they have imagined to do will be restrained from them.
Therefore, let us go down there and confuse their language so that they cannot understand one another's speech.
So the Lord scattered them abroad from that place upon the face of all the earth. So they quit building that city.
Therefore the name of it is called Babel, because the Lord confused the language of all the earth there. And from there the Lord scattered them abroad onto the face of all the earth.
These are the generations of Shem. Shem was 100 years old and fathered Arpachshad two years after the flood.
After he fathered Arpachshad, Shem lived 500 years and he fathered sons and daughters.
Arpachshad lived 35 years and fathered Salah.
After he fathered Salah, Arpachshad lived 403 years and he fathered sons and daughters.
Salah lived 30 years and fathered Eber.
After he fathered Eber, Salah lived 403 years and he fathered sons and daughters.
Eber lived 34 years and fathered Peleg.
After he fathered Peleg, Eber lived 430 years and he fathered sons and daughters.
Peleg lived 30 years and fathered Reu.
After he fathered Reu, Peleg lived 209 years and he fathered sons and daughters.
Reu lived 32 years and fathered Serug.
After he fathered Serug, Reu lived 207 years and he fathered sons and daughters.
Serug lived 30 years and fathered Nahor.
After he fathered Nahor, Serug lived 200 years and he fathered sons and daughters.
Nahor lived 29 years and fathered Terah.
After he fathered Terah, Nahor lived 119 years and he fathered sons and daughters.
Terah lived 70 years and fathered Abram, Nahor and Haran.
Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah fathered Abram, Nahor and Haran. And Haran fathered Lot.
Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldeans.
Abram and Nahor took wives for themselves. The name of Abram's wife was Sarai. And the name of Nahor's wife was Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
But Sarai was barren. She had no child.
Terah took Abram his son, and Lot, the son of Haran, his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife. And he went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan. So they came to Haran and lived there.
The days of Terah were 205 years and then Terah died in Haran.
