Job Chapter 18

Bildad the Shuhite said,
When will you set a snare for words? Understand and afterward we will speak.
Why are we counted as cattle or seem stupid in your sight?
He tears himself in his anger. Will the earth be forsaken for you? Will the rock be moved out of its place?
Yes, the light of the wicked will be put out and the spark of his fire will not shine.
The light will be dark in his tent and his lamp will be put out with him.
The steps of his strength will be hampered and his own plans will throw him down.
He is thrown into a net by his own feet and he walks on a net.
The trap will take him by the heel and the noose will hold sway over him.
A pit is laid for him in the ground and a trap for him is on the way.
Terrors make him afraid on every side and dash him at his feet.
His strength is sapped+ and trouble is already at his side.
It will devour parts of his skin. The first stages+ of death consume his parts.
His hope will be rooted out of his tent and you marched to the king of terrors.
What is not his will live in his tent. Brimstone will be scattered on his home.
His roots will be dried up beneath and his branches will wither above.
His memory will perish from the earth and there is no name for him on the street.
They drive him from light to darkness and make him flee from the world.
He will have neither son nor relative+ among his people nor any remaining in his dwellings.
Those after him will be amazed at his day and those before were seized with horror.
Surely these are the dwellings of the wicked and this is the place of those who do not know God.
