This letter explains that the Temple and its ceremonies were temporary pointers to Christianity. Yeshua-Jesus offered a far better sacrifice than the old Temple sacrifices. He is better in every way than all that has gone before:
greater than the angels and greater than Moses. Now there is a new covenant.
The writer encourages Christians to press on in the face of difficulties and hostility. The people of the Old Testament did wonderful things when they trusted and relied on God. Christians must now follow their example, yet even more, follow the example of Jesus.
