The Book of 2nd Samuel

This book continues the history of the prophet Samuel and the early years of the monarchial period in Israel under the reigns of Saul and David.

7:14 I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men.

11:2 One evening, David arose off his bed and walked onto the roof of the king's house. From that rooftop, he saw a woman washing herself and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.
11:3 So David inquired about that woman. Someone said, Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?
11:4 Then David sent messengers and took her and she came to him and he lay with her, for she was purified from her uncleanness. Then she returned to her house.
11:5 The woman conceived and sent and told David, I am with child.
11:6 Then David sent to Joab, saying, Send Uriah the Hittite to me. So Joab sent Uriah to David.
11:7 When Uriah came to him, David asked him how Joab did, and how the people did, and how the war prospered.
11:8 Then David said to Uriah, Go down to your house and wash your feet. So Uriah left the king's house and there followed him a gift+ of meat from the king.
11:9 But Uriah slept at the door of the king's house with all the servants of his lord, and did not go down to his own house.

22:3 The God of my rock, in Him will I trust. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my savior. You save me from violence.

22:4 I will call upon the Lord who is worthy to be praised. So shall I be saved from my enemies.
