This book presents a prophetic narrative describing the destruction of Nineveh and promising the deliverance of God's chosen people from oppressors.

1:3   The Lord is slow to anger and great in power. He does not by any means acquit the guilty. The Lord has His way in the tempest and in the storm. The clouds are the dust of His feet.

1:5   The mountains quake from Him and the hills melt. The earth is lifted up from before Him. Even the world and all who live in it.

1:7   The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble, and He knows those who trust in Him.
