1st 2nd and 3rd John

1st John ~ Teachers of strange ideas who claim they have a special understanding of spiritual matters must be shunned. One clear proof that people are genuine followers of Yeshua-Jesus is how they love others.

2nd John ~ Beware of those who teach wrong ideas. The way to love and honor God is to do what He has instructed us to do and love others.

3rd John ~ Christians must always stand strong for truth.

1 John Chapter 1

1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon and our hands have touched+ is+ the Word of life.
2 For the life was revealed+ and we have seen it and testify+ and we are now showing you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed+ to us.
3 What we have seen and heard we declare to you so that you also may have fellowship with us. Truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.
4 We write these things to you so that your joy may be full.
5 This then is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: That God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him and walk in darkness, then we lie and do not live+ by the truth.
7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, then we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. Proverbs 28:13
9 But if we confess our sins, then He is faithful and just to forgive us for our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Proverbs 28:13
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His Word is not in us.

1 John Chapter 2

1 My little children, I write these things to you so that you do not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an advocate~ with the Father: Jesus Christ the Righteous.
2 He is the means of reconciliation+ for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 By this we know that we know Him: If we keep His commandments.
4 Those who say: I know Him but do not keep His commandments are liars and the truth is not in them.
5 But whoever keeps His Word, truly+ the love of God is perfected~ in them, and by this+ we know that we are in Him.
6 Those who say that they abide~ in Him should+ also walk in the same way as He walked.
7 Believers+, I do not write a new commandment to you, but an old commandment that you have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the Word that you have heard from the beginning.
8 Then again, a new commandment I write to you: Which thing is true in Him and in you. Because the darkness is past and the true light now shines.
9 Those who say they are in the light and yet hate others+ are still in darkness.
10 Those who love one another+ abide~ in the light and there is no occasion for stumbling in them.
11 But those who hate one another+ are in darkness and walk in darkness and do not know where they are going, because darkness has blinded their eyes.
12 I write to you little children because your sins are forgiven for His name's sake.
13 I write to you fathers because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I write to you young men because you have overcome the wicked. I write to you little children because you have known the Father.
14 I have written to you fathers because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you young men because you are strong and the Word of God abides in you and you have overcome the wicked.
15 Do not love the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in them.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 The world is passing away, and the lust thereof, but those who do the will of God will live+ forever.
18 Little children, it is the last hour+. As you have heard that antichrist is coming, even now there are many antichrists. And by this we know that it is the last hour+.
19 Many have gone out from among us, but they were not a part of us. For if they had been a part of us, then no doubt they would have continued with us. But they went out so that it might be revealed+ that they were not all a part of us.
20 But you have an anointing+ from the Holy One and therefore you understand+ everything+.
21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it and know that no lie is of the truth.
22 Who is a liar but one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? One who denies the Father and the Son is antichrist.
23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father. But those who confess the Son have the Father also.
24 Therefore, let what you have heard from the beginning abide~ in you. If what you have heard from the beginning remains in you, then you also will continue in the Son and in the Father.
25 And this is the promise: That He has promised us eternal life.
26 I have written these things to you concerning those who try to deceive+ you.
27 But the anointing you have received from Him lives+ in you and you do not need anyone else to teach you. But as the same anointing teaches you about everything and is truth and is no lie, even as it has taught you, you shall abide in Him.
28 Now little children: Abide~ in Him so that when He shall appear we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.
29 If you know that He is righteous, then you know that everyone who does righteousness is born of Him.

1 John Chapter 3

1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the children+ of God. Therefore the world does not know us because it did not know Him.
2 Beloved, we are now the children+ of God and it does not yet appear what we shall become. But we know that when He appears, we will be like Him. For we shall see Him as He is.
3 Everyone+ who has this hope in Him purifies themselves, even as He is pure.
4 Whoever commits sin, transgresses the law also. For sin is the transgression of the law.
5 You know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.
6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has not seen Him or known Him.
7 Little children, let no one deceive you. Those who do righteousness are righteous, even as He is righteous.
8 Those who commit sin are of the devil, for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose, the Son of God was manifested so that He might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whoever is born of God does not commit sin, for His seed remains in them. They cannot sin, because they are born of God.
10 In this the children of God are revealed+, and also the children of the devil: Whoever does not do righteousness is not of God, nor are those who do not truly love others+.
11 For this is the message that you heard from the beginning: That we should love one another.
12 Not like Cain who was wicked and killed+ his brother. Why did he kill+ him? Because his own works were evil and his brother's were righteous.
13 Do not marvel, my family+, if the world hates you.
14 We know that we have passed from death to life because we love others+. Those who do not love others+ abide in death.
15 Whoever hates their brother is a murderer. You know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in them.
16 By this we perceive the true love of God, that He laid down His life for us. And we therefore ought to be willing to lay down our lives for others+.
17 But whoever has this world's goods and sees others+ have needs and yet shuts up their heart+ of compassion from them, then how does the love of God live in them?
18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue only, but in deed and in truth.
19 By this, we know that we are of the truth and by this we will assure our hearts before Him.
20 For if our own heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart and He knows everything+.
21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, then we can have confidence toward God.
22 Whatever we ask, we receive from Him because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.
23 This is His commandment: That we should believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us this commandment.
24 Those who keep His commandments live in Him and He in them. By this, we know that He abides in us: By the Spirit whom He has given us.

1 John Chapter 4

1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test+ the spirits to see if they are of God. Because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
2 By this, you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God.
3 Every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. This is the spirit of antichrist that you have heard would come. Even now it is already in the world.
4 Little children, you are of God and have overcome them. Because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
5 They are of the world. Therefore they speak of the world and the world hears them.
6 We are of God. Those who know God hear us. Anyone who is not of God does not hear us. By this, we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
7 Beloved, let us love one another. For true love is from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
8 Those who do not love do not know God, for God is love.
9 In this, the love of God was revealed+ to us: That God sent His Only genetic+ Son into the world so that through Him we might live.
10 Herein is love: Not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the means of reconciliation+ for our sins.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, then we should+ also love one another.
12 No one has seen God at any time. But if we love one another, then God lives in us and His love is perfected~ in us.
13 By this we know that we live in Him and He in us: That He has given us His Spirit.
14 We have seen and testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.
15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, reveals that God lives in them and they live in God.
16 We have known and believed the love that God has toward us. God is love. Those who abide in love, abide in God and God is in them.
17 Herein is our love made perfect~, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment. Because, as He is, so are we in this world.
18 There is no fear in love, but perfect~ love casts out fear. Because fear has torment. Those who fear are not made perfect~ in love.
19 We love Him because He first loved us.
20 If anyone says: I love God, and hates others+, they are a liar. For how can those who do not love others+ whom they have seen, love God whom they have not seen?
21 This commandment we have from Him: That those who love God love others+ also.

1 John Chapter 5

1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. Everyone who loves God who fathered+ us all also loves those who are fathered+ by Him.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God: When we love God and keep His commandments.
3 For this is the love of God: That we keep His commandments. His commandments are not grievous. John 14:15
4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that overcomes the world: Our faith.
5 Who are those who overcome the world but those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God?
6 This is the One who came by water and blood: Jesus Christ. Not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth.
7 For there are three who bear witness+ in heaven: The Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit. And these three are one.
8 There are three who bear witness on Earth: The Spirit, the water, and the blood. And these three agree in one.
9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater. For this is the witness of God that He has testified about His Son.
10 Those who believe in the Son of God have the witness within themselves. Those who do not believe God, have made Him a liar because they do not believe the record that God gave of His Son.
11 This is the record: That God has given eternal life to us, and this life is in His Son.
12 Those who have the Son have life. Those who do not have the Son of God do not have life.
13 I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life and so that you may believe in the name of the Son of God.
14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him: That if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, then we know that we shall have the petitions that we desired of Him.
16 If anyone sees another sin a sin that is not unto death, they should ask and He will give life to those who do not commit sin that leads to death. Yet there is a sin that is to death and I do not say that you shall pray for this.
17 All unrighteousness is sin, but there is sin that is not unto death.
18 We know that whoever is born of God does not sin, but those who are fathered+ by God keep themselves and the wicked does not touch them.
19 And we know that we are of God. But the whole world lies in wickedness.
20 We know that the Son of God has come and given us an understanding so that we may know Him who is true and so that we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

1 From John the elder. To the elect~ lady and her children whom I love in the truth. Not only I but also all who have known the truth.
2 For the sake of the truth that lives in us and shall be with us forever.
3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
4 I rejoiced greatly that I have found of your children walking in truth as we received commandment from the Father.
5 Now I appeal+ to you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but one we have had from the beginning: to love one another.
6 And this is love: That we walk after His commandments. And this is the commandment: That as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.
7 For many deceivers have entered the world who do not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist.
8 Look to yourselves so that we do not lose those things for which we have worked+, but so that we receive a full reward.
9 For everyone who transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ, does not have God within them. But those who abide in the doctrine of Christ have both the Father and the Son.
10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive them into your house or bid them cordial greetings+.
11 For those who bid them cordial greetings+ are partakers of their evil deeds.
12 Although I have many things to write to you, I would not write with paper and ink, but I trust to come to you and speak face to face so that our joy may be full.
13 The children of your elect~ sister greet you. Amen.

1 From John the elder. To the beloved Gaius whom I love in the truth.
2 Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.
3 For I rejoiced greatly when the family+ came and testified of the truth that is in you, even as you walk in the truth.
4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
5 Beloved, you do faithfully whatever you do for the family+ and for strangers.
6 For they have testified+ of your true love before the assembly+. If you bring them forward on their journey in a godly way, you will do well.
7 It was for His name that they went forth, taking nothing from the Gentiles.
8 Therefore, we ought to receive such people so that we might be their fellow helpers for the truth.
9 I wrote to the assembly+, but Diotrephes, who takes pleasure+ in having preeminence among them, does not receive us.
10 Therefore if I come, I will remember his deeds that he does, babbling+ against us with malicious words. And not content with that, neither does he himself receive the family+ and he forbids those who would, and casts them out of the assembly+.
11 Beloved, do not follow what is evil, but what is good. Those who do good are of~ God. But those who do evil have not seen God.
12 Demetrius has good report from everyone and from the truth itself. Yes, and we also testify+ and you know that our testimony+ is true.
13 I had many things to write, but I will not write to you with pen and ink.
14 But I trust that I will see you soon+ and we will speak face to face. Peace to you. Our friends greet+ you. Greet the friends by name.
