Corinthians Chapter 1

From Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and from Sosthenes our brother.
To the assembly+ of God at Corinth. To those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be saints, along with everyone in every place who calls upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their Lord and ours.
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and Lord Jesus Christ.
I thank my God always for you, for the grace of God that is given to you by Jesus Christ,
knowing that in everything you are enriched by Him, in all utterance and in all knowledge,
even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you,
so that you are not lacking+ in any gift while waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
And Christ will confirm you to the end so that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
God is faithful and you were called by Him into fellowship with His Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
Now I urge you, family+, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
For it has been declared to me about you, my family+, by those who are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. Proverbs 6:19
Now I say this, noting that each of you says: I am of Paul, or I of Apollos or I of Cephas~ or I of Christ.
Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
I thank God that I baptized none of you except+ Crispus and Gaius,
lest anyone should say that I had baptized in my own name.
I also baptized the household of Stephanas, but besides that, I do not know if I baptized any others.
For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to proclaim+ the Gospel. Yet not with the wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.
For the proclaiming+ of the cross is foolishness to those who will perish. But to those of us who are being saved it is the power of God.
For it is written: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Isaiah 29:14
Where are the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer~ of this world? Has God not made the wisdom of this world foolishness?
Because, in the wisdom of God, the world would not know or understand God through human wisdom. Instead, it pleased God to save those who would believe through the simpleness+ of proclaiming+ the Word.
For the Jews require a sign and the Greeks seek after wisdom.
But we proclaim+ Christ crucified. To the Jews He is a stumbling block and to the Gentiles~ He is foolishness.
But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
For you see in your being called, family+, that not many wise according+ to the flesh, not many mighty, and not many noble are called.
But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound~ the wise. God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound~ the things that are mighty.
God has chosen the lowly+ of the world and the despised and things that are not mighty and noble, in order to bring to nothing the things that are thought by the world to be mighty and noble,
so that no flesh would boast+ in His presence.
But from Him, you are in Christ Jesus who by God was made wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption to us,
so that, as it is written: Those who would boast+, let them boast+ only in the Lord. Psalm 105:3
