1 Corinthians Chapter 8 1 Now concerning+ things offered to idols, we know that we all have knowledge, yet knowledge puffs up. But true love edifies.2 If anyone thinks that they know anything, they know nothing yet as they ought to know.3 But if anyone truly loves God, then they are also known by Him.4 Therefore, as concerning the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world and that there is no other God but one.5 For though there are some who are called gods, whether in Heaven or in Earth, as there are many so called gods and many lords,6 yet to us there is only one God who is the Father, from whom everything has come, and we are His. And there is one Lord Jesus Christ through whom everything has come. And we have come through Him.7 However everyone+ does not yet have this understanding+. But some still+ have a concern+ about sacrifices offered to idols, and their conscience, being weak, would thus be defiled.8 But food+ does not commend us to God. For if we eat we are not better, nor if we do not eat are we worse.9 But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours becomes a stumbling block to those who are weak.10 For if anyone sees you who have understanding+ sit to eat+ in the idol's temple, will not the conscience of those who are weak be made bold+ to eat those things that are offered to idols?11 And so through your knowledge, will you cause the weak brother for whom Christ also died to perish?12 When you sin against the family+ and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.13 Therefore if certain foods+ cause+ another to sin, I will not eat such flesh ever+, lest I offend another and cause them to sin.
