1 Corinthians Chapter 12 1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, family+, I do not want you to be ignorant~.2 You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these speechless+ idols, even as you were led.3 Therefore I give you to understand that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed. No one can say that Jesus is Lord, but by the Holy Spirit.4 Now there are diversities of gifts but the same Spirit.5 There are differences of administrations but the same Lord.6 There are diversities of operations but it is the same God who works all in all.7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to everyone+ to receive its benefit+.8 For to one, from the Spirit, is given the word of wisdom. To another, the word of knowledge from the same Spirit.9 To another, faith from the same Spirit. To another, the gifts of healing from the same Spirit.10 To another, the working of miracles~. To another, prophecy. To another, discerning of spirits. To another, different+ kinds of tongues. To another, the interpretation of tongues.11 But all these gifts operate+ through one and the same Spirit, dividing to everyone+ individually+ as He will.12 For as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so it is also with Christ.13 For by one Spirit we are all baptized into one body. Whether we are Jews or Gentiles~. Whether we are slaves+ or free. All have been made to drink~ from one Spirit.14 For the body is not one member, but many.15 If the foot says: Because I am not the hand I am not of the body, is it therefore not of the body?16 If the ear says: Because I am not the eye I am not of the body, is it therefore not of the body?17 If the whole body was an eye, where is hearing? If the whole was hearing, where is smelling?18 But now God has placed+ everyone of the members in the body as it has pleased Him.19 If they were all one member, where is the body?20 But now there are many members, but in one body.21 The eye cannot say to the hand: I have no need of you. Nor again the head to the feet: I have no need of you.22 No, much more those members of the body that seem to be more feeble, are necessary.23 And those members of the body that we think to be less honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor. Our unattractive+ parts have more abundant attractiveness+.24 For our attractive+ parts have no need. But God has tempered the body together, giving more abundant honor to that part which lacked25 so that there should be no division+ in the body, but so that the members should have the same care for one another.26 If one member suffers, then all the members suffer with it. Or if one member is honored, then all the members rejoice with it.27 Now you are the body of Christ and members in particular.28 God has placed+ some in the assembly+ thus: First apostles, second prophets, third teachers. After that miracles~, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, and diversities of tongues.29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles~?30 Do all have the gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?31 Zealously+ desire the better gifts. And yet I will show you a more excellent way.
