1 John Chapter 2

1 My little children, I write these things to you so that you do not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an advocate~ with the Father: Jesus Christ the Righteous.
2 He is the means of reconciliation+ for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 By this we know that we know Him: If we keep His commandments.
4 Those who say: I know Him but do not keep His commandments are liars and the truth is not in them.
5 But whoever keeps His Word, truly+ the love of God is perfected~ in them, and by this+ we know that we are in Him.
6 Those who say that they abide~ in Him should+ also walk in the same way as He walked.
7 Believers+, I do not write a new commandment to you, but an old commandment that you have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the Word that you have heard from the beginning.
8 Then again, a new commandment I write to you: Which thing is true in Him and in you. Because the darkness is past and the true light now shines.
9 Those who say they are in the light and yet hate others+ are still in darkness.
10 Those who love one another+ abide~ in the light and there is no occasion for stumbling in them.
11 But those who hate one another+ are in darkness and walk in darkness and do not know where they are going, because darkness has blinded their eyes.
12 I write to you little children because your sins are forgiven for His name's sake.
13 I write to you fathers because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I write to you young men because you have overcome the wicked. I write to you little children because you have known the Father.
14 I have written to you fathers because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you young men because you are strong and the Word of God abides in you and you have overcome the wicked.
15 Do not love the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in them.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 The world is passing away, and the lust thereof, but those who do the will of God will live+ forever.
18 Little children, it is the last hour+. As you have heard that antichrist is coming, even now there are many antichrists. And by this we know that it is the last hour+.
19 Many have gone out from among us, but they were not a part of us. For if they had been a part of us, then no doubt they would have continued with us. But they went out so that it might be revealed+ that they were not all a part of us.
20 But you have an anointing+ from the Holy One and therefore you understand+ everything+.
21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it and know that no lie is of the truth.
22 Who is a liar but one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? One who denies the Father and the Son is antichrist.
23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father. But those who confess the Son have the Father also.
24 Therefore, let what you have heard from the beginning abide~ in you. If what you have heard from the beginning remains in you, then you also will continue in the Son and in the Father.
25 And this is the promise: That He has promised us eternal life.
26 I have written these things to you concerning those who try to deceive+ you.
27 But the anointing you have received from Him lives+ in you and you do not need anyone else to teach you. But as the same anointing teaches you about everything and is truth and is no lie, even as it has taught you, you shall abide in Him.
28 Now little children: Abide~ in Him so that when He shall appear we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.
29 If you know that He is righteous, then you know that everyone who does righteousness is born of Him.
1 From John the elder. To the elect~ lady and her children whom I love in the truth. Not only I but also all who have known the truth.
2 For the sake of the truth that lives in us and shall be with us forever.
3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
4 I rejoiced greatly that I have found of your children walking in truth as we received commandment from the Father.
5 Now I appeal+ to you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but one we have had from the beginning: to love one another.
6 And this is love: That we walk after His commandments. And this is the commandment: That as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.
7 For many deceivers have entered the world who do not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist.
8 Look to yourselves so that we do not lose those things for which we have worked+, but so that we receive a full reward.
9 For everyone who transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ, does not have God within them. But those who abide in the doctrine of Christ have both the Father and the Son.
10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive them into your house or bid them cordial greetings+.
11 For those who bid them cordial greetings+ are partakers of their evil deeds.
12 Although I have many things to write to you, I would not write with paper and ink, but I trust to come to you and speak face to face so that our joy may be full.
13 The children of your elect~ sister greet you. Amen.
