1 Timothy Chapter 2 1 I urge+ you, therefore, first of all: Make supplications~, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving for everyone,2 including for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior4 who desires+ all people+ to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind+: the man Christ Jesus6 who gave Himself as a ransom for all with the testimony of this to come in due time.7 To this purpose, I am ordained a preacher and an apostle. I speak the truth in Christ. As a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth+ I do not lie.8 Therefore, I desire+ that people+ everywhere pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.9 In like manner also, I urge that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with humility+ and moderation+, not with elaborately braided hair or gold or pearls or costly array,10 but with what becomes women professing godliness: With good works.11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection~.12 I do not allow+ women to teach or usurp authority over men, but to be in quietness+.13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve.14 Adam was not deceived, but the woman, being deceived, went into transgression.15 Nevertheless women will be saved in child bearing if they continue in faith and true love and holiness with moderation+.
