2 Corinthians Chapter 5

1 We know that if our earthly house in this tabernacle is destroyed+, we have another building from God. It is a house not made with hands, but eternal in the heavens.
2 In this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our house that is from heaven.
3 Indeed+, being thus clothed, we will not be found naked.
4 For we who are in this temporary tabernacle groan, being burdened. Not that we wish to be unclothed, but clothed upon so that mortality might be swallowed up by life.
5 Now He who has prepared+ us for this is God. And He has also given to us the guarantee+ of the Spirit.
6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord.
7 For we walk by faith and not by sight.
8 We are confident, I say, and willing instead+ to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.
9 Therefore we labor so that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted by Him.
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ so that everyone may receive the things done in body, according to what they have done, whether good or bad.
11 Therefore, knowing the terror~ of the Lord, we persuade people+. And we are revealed+ to God. I trust also that we are revealed+ in your consciences.
12 For we do not commend ourselves to you again. But we give you occasion to rejoice+ on our behalf so that you may have something to answer to those who glory~ in outward appearance and not in their hearts.
13 For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God. Or if we are sober, it is for you.
14 For the love of Christ compels+ us. Because we have concluded this: That if one died for all, then all are destined to die.
15 Jesus died for all so that those who live would no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and rose again.
16 Therefore, from now on we will know no one in the flesh. Yes, though we have known Christ in the flesh, yet from now on we know Him that way no longer+.
17 Therefore if any are in Christ, they are a new creation+. Old things are passed away. Behold all things are become new.
18 All things are from God who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation.
19 As God was, in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing~ their trespasses~ to them, He has committed to us the Word of reconciliation.
20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ. As God has exhorted+ you through us, we urge+ you in Christ's place+: Be reconciled to God.
21 For God made Jesus who knew no sin to be sin for us so that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.
