Ezekiel Chapter 26 1 In the eleventh year, in the first of the month, the Word of the Lord came to me saying,2 Son of man, because Tyre has said of Jerusalem, Aha. The door of the people is broken, it is turned open to me. Now that she is laid waste, I will be filled.3 So the Lord God says: Behold, I am against you, Tyre. I will cause many nations to come up against you like the sea causes its waves to come up.4 They will destroy the walls of Tyre and break down her towers. I will also scrape her dust from her and make her like a shining rock.5 It will be a spreading place of nets in the middle of the sea. For I have spoken says the Lord God. It will become a spoil to the nations.6 Her daughters who are in the field will be killed by the sword. Then they will know that I am the Lord.7 For thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will bring King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon upon Tyre, a king of kings from the north, with horses and chariots and with a company of horsemen and many people.8 He will kill your daughters with the sword in the field. He will make siege walls against you and pour out a siege mound against you and lift up the shield against you.9 He will set engines of war against your walls and with his axes he will break down your towers.10 Because of his many horses, their dust will cover you. Your walls will shake at the sound of the horsemen and of the wheels and of the chariots when he enters into your gates, like men enter a city that is breached.11 With the hoofs of his horses he will trample all your streets. He will kill your people by the sword, and the pillars of your strength shall go down to the ground.12 They will plunder your riches and make a prey of your merchandise. They will break down your walls and destroy your desirable houses. They will lay your stones and your timber and your dust in the midst of the water.13 I will cause the noise of your songs to cease. The sound of your harps will no longer be heard.14 I will make you like a shining rock. You will be a place to spread nets on. You will no longer be built. For I the Lord have spoken says the Lord God.15 Thus says the Lord God to Tyre: The coastlands will shake at the sound of your fall when the slain groan, when the slaughter is made in your midst?16 All the rulers of the sea will come down from their thrones and lay away their robes and put off their embroidered garments. They will clothe themselves with trembling. They will sit on the ground and tremble at every moment and be amazed at you.17 They will take up a mourning for you and say to you, How you who lived by the sea are destroyed. The famous city that was strong by the sea, she and her people caused their terror to be on all who lived in it.18 The coastlands will tremble in the day of your fall. Yes, the coastlands by the sea will be troubled at your going.19 For thus says the Lord God: When I make a desolate city like cities that are not inhabited and bring up the deep and great waters cover you,20 and bring you down with those who go down into the pit with the people of old and set you in the low parts of the earth, in places ruined in days of old with those who go down to the pit so that you have no inhabitants, but I gave glory in the land of the living.21 I will make you terrified+ and then you will exist no more. Though you are sought, you will never be found again declares the Lord God.
