 1 Come near, nations, to hear. Listen people. Let the earth hear its fullness. The world and its offspring. 2 For the anger of the Lord is on all nations. His fury on all their armies. He has completely destroyed them. He has delivered them to the slaughter. 3 Their dead will be thrown out and their stink will come up out of their dead bodies. The mountains will be melted with their blood. 4 All the host of the heavens will be dissolved. The heavens will be rolled like a scroll. All their host will droop like a leaf falls off of the vine and like the falling of the fig tree. 5 For my sword bathed in the heavens. Behold. It will come down on Edom and on the people of my curse for judgment. 6 The sword of the Lord is filled with blood. It is made fat with fatness, with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams. For the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah and a great slaughter in the land of Edom. 7 The wild oxen will come down with them and the bullocks with the bulls. Their land will be soaked with blood and their dust made fat with fatness. 8 For it is the day of the Lord's vengeance. The year to repay for fighting against Zion. 9 Its streams will be turned into pitch and its dust to brimstone and its land will become burning pitch. 10 It will not be quenched night or day. Its smoke will go up forever. From generation to generation it will lie waste. No one will pass through it forever and forever. 11 The cormorant and heron and the owl and raven will live there. He will stretch out the line of confusion and the stones of emptiness on it. 12 They will call its nobles to the kingdom, but no one will be there. All her rulers will be nothing. 13 Thorns will come up in her palaces with nettles and thistles in its fortresses. It will be a home to jackals and a court for ostriches. 14 The wild beasts of the desert will meet with howling beasts. The shaggy goat will cry to its fellow. The screech owl will rest there and find a place of rest. 15 The snake will nest and lay and hatch and gather under her shadow. The vultures will gather, every one with its mate. 16 Seek out of the book of the Lord and read. Not one of these will fail. None will lack its mate. For my mouth has commanded and His Spirit has gathered them. 17 He has cast the lot for them and His hand has divided it to them by line. They will possess it forever. From generation to generation they will live there.
