James Chapter 4

From where do wars and fighting arise among you? Is it not + from your lusts that war within+ you?
You lust and do not have. You kill and desire to have and cannot obtain. You fight and war, yet you do not have because you do not ask.
You ask and do not receive because you ask amiss so that you may consume upon your lusts.
You adulterers and adulteresses: Do you not know that attachment+ to the pleasures of the world is enmity~ with God? Therefore, whoever chooses+ to be attached+ to the pleasures of the world is thereby made+ an enemy of God.
Do you suppose+ that the Scripture says in vain: The natural spirit that lives+ in us lusts to envy. Genesis 6:5
But God gives more grace. Therefore it says: God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Proverbs 3:34
Therefore, submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners. Purify your hearts, you double minded.
Be afflicted and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to sorrow+.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and He will lift you up.
Do not speak evil about one another, family+. Those who speak evil of their family+ and judge their family+, speak evil of the law and judge the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge.
There is one lawgiver who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you that you judge another?
Come+ now, you who say: Today or tomorrow we will go into some+ city and continue there a year and buy and sell and get gain.
You do not know what will be tomorrow, for what is your life? It is but a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
You ought to say: If the Lord is willing and we live, we may do this or that.
But now you rejoice in your boasting, however all such rejoicing is evil.
Therefore to those who know to do good and do not do it, to them it is sin.
