John Chapter 7

After these things, Jesus walked in Galilee, for He would not walk in Judea+ because the Jews sought to kill Him.
Now the Jews' Feast of Tabernacles was at hand.
Therefore His brothers said to Him: Depart from here+ and go into Judea so that your disciples may also see the works that you do.
For no one does anything in secret~ and seeks thereby to be known openly. If you are doing these things, show yourself to the world.
For even His brothers did not believe in Him.
Then Jesus said to them: My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.
The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify about+ it, that its works are evil.
You go on to this feast. I am not going to this feast yet because it is not yet my time to be fulfilled+.
When He had said these words to them, He stayed+ in Galilee.
But when His brothers had left+, then Jesus also went up to the feast, not openly, but as in secret~.
Then the Jews sought Him at the feast and said: Where is He?
And there was much murmuring among the people concerning Him. Some said: He is a good man. Others said: No, He deceives the people.
However, no one spoke openly about+ Him for fear of the Jews.
Now about midway+ through the feast, Jesus went into the temple and taught.
The Jews marveled saying: How does this man know letters~, with no education+?
Jesus answered them and said: My doctrine is not mine but His who sent me.
If anyone will do God's will, they will know about this doctrine~, whether it is from God or whether I speak only from+ myself.
Those who speak for+ themselves seek their own glory. But He who seeks the glory of the one who sent Him is true and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keeps the law? Why do you seek+ to kill me?
The people answered and said: You have a demon+. Who is seeking+ to kill you?
Jesus answered and said to them: I have done one work and you all marvel.
Moses gave circumcision to you, not that it was from Moses but from the patriarch fathers, and therefore you circumcise men even on the Sabbath day.
If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath day so that the law of Moses should not be broken, why are you angry at me, because I have made a man completely+ whole on the Sabbath day?
Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.
Then some of them from+ Jerusalem said: Is this not He whom they seek to kill?
But behold, He speaks boldly and they say nothing to Him. Surely+ the rulers must know that this truly+ is the Christ.
However we know this man and where He comes from, but when Christ comes, no one will know where He has come from.
Then Jesus cried out in the temple as He taught saying: You both know me and you know where I am from. And I have not come of myself, but He who sent me is true, He whom you do not know.
But I know Him for I am from Him and He has sent me.
Then they sought to take Him, but no one laid hands on Him because His hour had not yet come.
Many of the people believed in Him and said: When Christ comes, will He do more miracles~ than what this man has done?
The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning Him and so the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take Him.
Then Jesus said to them: Yet a little while longer I am to be with you, and then I must go to Him who sent me.
You will seek me and will not find me, for where I am going you will not be able+ to come.
Then the Jews said among themselves: Where will He go that we will not find Him? Will He go to those dispersed among the Greeks+ and teach the Greeks?
And what kind of saying is this that He said: You will seek me and will not find me for where I am going you will not be able+ to come.
Then on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood up and cried out saying: If anyone thirsts, let them come to me and drink. Proverbs 8:17
As the Scripture has said of those who believe in me: Out of their innermost being+ will flow rivers of living water. Isaiah 58:11
Jesus spoke this about+ the Spirit whom those believing in Him were about+ to receive. For the Holy Spirit was not yet being given because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Therefore, when they heard this Word+, many of the people said: Truly this is the Prophet. Deuteronomy 18:18
Others said: This is the Christ. But some said: Will Christ come out of Galilee?
Has the Scripture not said that Christ comes through+ the seed of David and from+ the town of Bethlehem, where David was? Jeremiah 23:5 Micah 5:2
So, there was a division among the people because of Jesus.
Some of them would have taken Him right then, but no one laid hands on Him.
Then the officers came to the chief priests and Pharisees who+ said to the officers: Why have you not brought Him to us?
The officers answered: No one ever spoke like this man.
Then the Pharisees answered them: Are you also deceived?
Have any of the rulers believed in Him, or any of the Pharisees?
But this crowd of people who do not know the law are cursed.
Then Nicodemus who had come to Jesus by night, being one of them, said to them:
Does our law judge any man before hearing from Him first+ and knowing what He has done?
They answered and said to him: Are you from+ Galilee also? Search and see+ that+ no prophet arises out of Galilee.
Then everyone went to their own house.
