Luke Chapter 5

Now+ it came to pass that as the people pressed in upon Jesus to hear the Word of God, He stood by the lake of Gennesaret
and saw two boats standing by the lake. But the fishermen were gone out of them and were washing their nets.
So, He entered one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked+ him if he would thrust out a little from the land, and then He sat down and taught the whole crowd+ of people from+ the boat.
When He finished+ speaking to them, He said to Simon: Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch+.
Simon answering said to Him: Master, we have toiled all night and have taken nothing. Nevertheless at your word I will let down the net.
When they had done this, they caught+ a large+ number+ of fish, so many that their net broke.
So they signaled+ to their partners who were in the other boat that they should come and help them, and they came and filled both the boats so that they began to sink.
When Simon Peter saw this, he fell down at Jesus' knees saying: Depart from me for I am a sinful man, O Lord.
For Peter and all who were with him were astonished at the catch+ of the fish they had taken.
So also were James and John the sons of Zebedee who were partners with Simon. But+ Jesus said to Simon: Do not be afraid. From henceforth you will catch men.
And when they had brought their boats to land, they left+ everything+ behind and followed Him.
Now+ it came to pass when Jesus was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy came to Him. Upon seeing Jesus he fell on his face and begged+ Him saying: Lord, if you will you can make me clean.
Jesus put forth His hand and touched him saying: I will. Be clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.
But then Jesus charged him to tell no one but He said: Go and show yourself to the priest and make an offering+ for your cleansing as Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.
But because of this, all the more His reputation+ went all around+, and great multitudes came together to hear and to be healed of their infirmities by Him.
Then He withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.
Now+ it came to pass on a certain day as He was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers+ of the law sitting by, who had come from+ every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal them.
And behold men brought a man in a bed who was paralyzed+ and they sought to bring him in and lay him before Jesus.
When they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop and let him down through the roof tiles+ with his bed+ into the midst before Jesus.
When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the sick man: Man, your sins are forgiven.
Then the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason saying: Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?
But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answering said to them: What are you thinking+ in your hearts?
Which+ is easier to say: Your sins are forgiven. Or to say: Rise up and walk.
But so that you may know that the Son of man has authority+ and power on Earth to forgive sins, Jesus said to the one sick with paralysis+: I say to you: Arise and take up your bed+ and go to your house.
Immediately he rose up before them and took up that on which he had been laying+ and departed to his own house, glorifying God.
They were all amazed and glorified God and were filled with fear saying: We have seen astonishing+ things today.
After these things Jesus went forth and saw a worldly+ person named Levi sitting at the tax office+ and He said to him: Follow me.
Therefore+, he left everything+, rose up, and followed Jesus.
Levi made a great feast for Jesus in his own house and there was a great multitude+ of worldly+ people and of others who sat down with them.
But their scribes and Pharisees complained+ against His disciples saying: Why do you eat and drink with worldly+ people and sinners?
Jesus answering said to them: Those who are whole do not need a physician, but those who are sick do.
I did not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.
Then they said to Him: Why do the disciples of John fast often and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours eat and drink?
He said to them: Can you make the children of the bride chamber fast while the bridegroom is with them?
But the days will come when the Bridegroom will be taken away from them and then they will fast in those days.
Then He spoke a parable to them: No one puts a piece of a new garment on an old garment, or else the new makes a tear+ and the piece that was taken out of the new does not agree with the old.
No one puts new wine into old wineskins+ or else the new wine will burst the wineskins+ and be spilled and the wineskins+ will perish.
But new wine must be put into new wineskins+ so both are preserved.
No one having drunk old wine immediately+ desires new, for he says: The old is better.
