Luke Chapter 10

After these things, the Lord appointed another seventy also and sent them by twos+ before His own presence+ into every city and place where He Himself would come.
He said to them: The harvest truly is great but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest so that He will send forth laborers into His harvest.
Now go. Behold I send you forth as lambs among wolves.
Do not carry a purse nor provision bag+ nor sandals+, and do not stop to salute anyone along+ the way.
Into whatever house you enter, first say: Peace to this house.
If a son of peace is there, your peace shall rest upon that house. If not, it shall return+ to you.
Remain in the same house, eating and drinking such things as they provide+, for workers+ are worthy of their wages+. Do not go from house to house.
Into whatever city you enter and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you.
Heal the sick who are there and say to them: The kingdom of God has come near to you.
But into whatever city you enter and they do not receive you, go+ out into the streets of the same and say:
Even the very dust of your city that clings+ on us, we wipe off against you. Even so+ know that the kingdom of God has come near to you.
But I say to you, that it will be more tolerable for Sodom in that day of judgment, than for that city.
Woe to you Chorazin. Woe to you Bethsaida. For if the mighty works that have been done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented a great while ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you.
You Capernaum, being exalted~ to Heaven, will be thrust down to Hell.
Those who hear you, hear me. Those who despise you, despise me. Those who despise me, despise Him who sent me.
Later, the seventy returned again with joy saying: Lord, even the demons+ are subject to us through your name.
He said to them: I saw+ Satan fall from heaven like+ lightning.
Behold I give you authority+ and power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Even so, do not rejoice that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.
In that hour, Jesus rejoiced in spirit and said: I thank you, O Father, Lord of Heaven and Earth, that you have hid these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in your sight.
All things are delivered to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is but the Father, and who the Father is but the Son and those to whom the Son will reveal Him.
Then He turned to His disciples and said privately: Blessed are the eyes that see the things that you see.
For I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see what you see but have not seen it, and to hear what you hear but have not heard it.
Then behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested+ Jesus saying: Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
Jesus said to him: What is written in the law? How do you read it?
The lawyer answering said: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:37
Jesus said to him: You have answered correctly+. Do this and you will live.
But the lawyer, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus: And who is my neighbor?
Jesus answering said: A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell among thieves who stripped him of his clothing+, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
About the same time a certain priest came down that way, and when he saw the injured man, he passed by on the other side.
Likewise a Levite came by the same place, looked at the injured man, and passed by on the other side.
But then a certain Samaritan, as he was traveling+ by, saw the injured man, had compassion on him,
went to him, bound up his wounds, poured soothing oil on him, gave him wine, set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn and took care of him.
On the next day when he departed, the Samaritan took out two coins+ and gave them to the host and said to him: Take care of him. Whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come again.
Which now of these three do you think, was a good neighbor to the one who fell among the thieves?
The lawyer said: He who showed mercy on him. Then Jesus said to him: Go and do likewise.
Now it came to pass as they went, that Jesus entered a certain village and a certain woman named Martha received Him into her house.
Martha had a sister named+ Mary who sat at Jesus' feet and heard His Word.
But Martha was distracted+ by much busyness in serving, and she came to Him and said: Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Speak+ to her so that she will help me.
Jesus answered and said to her: Martha, Martha. You are overly anxious+ and troubled about so many things.
But one thing is necessary+ and Mary has chosen that good part and that will not be taken from her.
