Luke Chapter 15

Then all the worldly+ people and sinners drew near to Jesus to hear Him.
But the Pharisees and scribes complained+ saying: This man receives sinners and eats with them.
Then Jesus spoke this parable to them saying:
What man among+ you having a hundred sheep, if he lost one of them, would not leave the ninety nine in the wilderness and go after what is lost, until he finds it?
And when he has found it, lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing;
and coming home, calls together friends and neighbors saying to them: Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.
I say to you, that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety nine righteous+ persons who do not need repentance.
Or, what woman, having ten pieces of silver, if she loses one piece, does not light a lamp+, sweep the house, and seek diligently until she finds it?
And when she has found it, does she not call her friends and neighbors together saying: Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece that I had lost.
Likewise, I say to you: there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.
Then He said: A certain man had two sons.
The younger of them said to his father: Father, give me the portion of your property+ that will fall to me. So, his father divided his worldly possessions+ to his sons.
Not many days later+, the younger son gathered everything+ together and went away+ to a far country and there wasted all his possessions+ with riotous living.
After he had spent everything+ he had, a mighty famine arose in that land and he began to be in want.
So, he joined a citizen of that country who sent him into his fields to feed swine.
The foolish son would gladly+ have filled his belly with the husks that the swine ate but no one gave him any.
When he came to himself, he said: How many of my father's hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I am perishing with hunger.
I will arise and go to my father and will say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.
I am no longer+ worthy to be called your son. Make me as one of your hired servants.
So he arose and went+ to his father, but when he was yet a great distance+ away, his father saw him, had compassion, ran to him, embraced+ his neck, and kissed him.
The son said to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight and am no longer+ worthy to be called your son.
But the father said to his servants: Bring forth the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his hand and sandals+ on his feet.
Bring the fatted calf here and kill it. Let us eat and be merry.
For this my son was dead but now is alive again. He was lost but now is found. And they began to be merry.
Now the father's elder son was in the field, and as he came near the house, he heard music and dancing.
So, he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant.
The servant said to him: Your brother has come home and your father has killed the fatted calf because he has received him safe and sound.
The older brother was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and pleaded+ with him.
He answering said to his father: Behold, these many years I have served you and not at any time transgressed your commandment. Yet you never gave me a young goat so that I might make merry with my friends.
But now, when this son of yours has come, one who has devoured your livelihood+ with harlots, you have killed the fatted calf for him.
The father said to him: Son, you are always+ with me and all that I have is yours.
It was fitting+ that we should make merry and be glad, for this your brother was dead and now is alive again. He was lost, but now is found.
