Luke Chapter 18

Then Jesus spoke a parable to them to this end: That people+ should always pray, and not faint or give up.
He said: There was a judge in a city who did not fear God or regard anyone+.
There was also a widow in that city, and she came to the judge saying: Avenge me of my adversary.
For a while, the judge would not respond. But afterward he said within himself: Although I do not fear God or regard man,
yet because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
The Lord said: Hear what the unrighteous+ judge said.
Will God not also avenge His own elect who cry day and night to Him, even though He bear with them for a long while.
I tell you: He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man comes, will He find faith on the Earth?
Jesus spoke this parable to certain ones who trusted in themselves, believing that they were righteous, and despised others:
Two men went up into the temple to pray. The one a Pharisee and the other a worldly+ person.
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself: God, I thank you that I am not as other men are: extortioners, unrighteous+, adulterers, or even as this worldly+ person.
I fast twice in the week~ and I give tithes of all that I possess.
The worldly+ person, standing at a distance+ away, would not so much as lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat+ upon his own breast saying: God be merciful to me a sinner.
I tell you: This man went down to his house justified rather than the other. For everyone who exalts themselves will be humbled+ and those who humble themselves will be exalted. Matthew 23:12
Then they brought infants to Jesus, so that He would touch them. But when His disciples saw this, they rebuked them.
But Jesus called to them and said: Allow little children to come to me and do not forbid them. For of such is the kingdom of God.
Truly+ I say to you: Whoever will not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no way+ enter therein.
A certain ruler asked Him saying: Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
Jesus said to him: Why do you call me good? No one is good except+ one. God.
You know the commandments: Do not commit adultery. Do not kill. Do not steal. Do not bear false witness. Honor your father and your mother.
The ruler said: All these I have kept from my youth.
Now when Jesus heard these things, He said to him: Yet you lack one thing. Sell all the things that you have and distribute to the poor and you shall have treasure in heaven. And come, follow me.
When he heard this, he was very sorrowful, for he was very rich.
When Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, He said: How hard+ it is for those who have riches to enter into the kingdom of God.
It is easier for a camel to go through an eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
Those who heard this said: Who then can be saved?
Jesus said: The things that are impossible with people+ are possible with God.
Then Peter said: Behold, we have left all and followed you.
Then Jesus said to them: Truly+ I say to you: There is no one who has left house or parents or brothers or wife or children for the sake of the kingdom of God Matthew 19:29
who will not receive many times+ more in this present time, and in the world to come, eternal+ life.
Then Jesus took the twelve and said to them: Behold, we shall now go up to Jerusalem and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man will be accomplished. Matthew 20:18
For He will be delivered to the Gentiles to be mocked and spitefully treated and spit on.
They will flog+ Him and put Him to death, and the third day He will rise again.
The disciples did not understand these things. This saying was hid from them and they did not know the meaning of the things that Jesus now spoke to them.
Now it came to pass that as Jesus had come near Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the wayside begging.
Hearing the multitude pass by, the blind man asked what it meant.
They told him that Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.
So he cried out saying: Jesus son of David, have mercy on me.
Those who went before rebuked him, saying that he should be silent+. But he cried out so much the more: Son of David, have mercy on me.
Jesus stopped+ and directed+ the blind man to be brought to Him. When he had come near, Jesus asked him
saying: What do you want me to do to you? He said: Lord, that I may receive my sight.
Jesus said to him: Receive your sight. Your faith has saved you.
Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, glorifying God. And when they saw this, all the people gave praise to God.
