Luke Chapter 19

Then Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.
And behold there was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief~ among the worldly+ people, and he was rich.
He sought to see Jesus, to see who He was, but he could not see because of the crowd+, because he was small+ in stature.
So he ran ahead+ and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Jesus, for He was to pass that way.
When Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him and said to him: Zacchaeus, come down quickly+. For today I must stay+ at your house.
So he came down quickly+ and received Jesus joyfully.
When they saw this everyone+ complained+ saying: He has gone to stay+ with a man who is a sinner.
Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord: Behold Lord, half of my goods I am giving to the poor, and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I will restore them fourfold.
Jesus said to him: This day salvation has come to this house, since+ Zacchaeus also is a son of Abraham.
For the Son of man has come to seek and to save those who were lost.
As they heard these things, Jesus spoke another+ parable to them because He was near Jerusalem and because they thought that the kingdom of God was going to appear immediately.
Therefore He said: A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and then to return.
He called his ten servants, gave+ ten pounds to them, and said to them: Occupy until I come.
But his citizens hated him and sent a message after him saying: We will not have this man to reign over us.
Now it came to pass that when he had returned, having received the kingdom, he then commanded those servants to be called to him to whom he had given the money so that he might know how much each one+ had gained+.
The first came saying: Lord, your pound has gained ten pounds.
The nobleman said to him: Well done good servant. Because you have been faithful in a very little, you shall now have authority over ten cities.
The second came saying: Lord, your pound has gained five pounds.
The nobleman likewise said to him: You also shall be over five cities.
Then another came saying: Lord, behold here is your pound that I have kept wrapped+ up in a cloth+.
For I feared you because you are an austere man. You take up what you have not laid down and reap what you did not sow.
The nobleman said to him: Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was an austere man, taking up what I did not lay down and reaping what I did not sow.
Why then did you not give my money to the bank so that at my coming I might have received+ what was mine with interest+?
Then he said to those who stood by: Take the pound from him and give it to the one who has ten pounds.
They said to him: Lord, he has ten pounds.
I say to you, that to everyone who has will more be given, but from those who have nothing, even what they have will be taken away from them.
But those who were my enemies, those who were unwilling+ for me to reign over them, bring here and slay them before me.
After+ Jesus had said these things, He went, as He had started before, going+ up to Jerusalem.
Now it came to pass, when He had come near Bethphage and Bethany at the mount called the Mount of Olives, He sent two of His disciples
saying: Go into the village near+ you. Upon+ entering, you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Loosen it and bring it here.
If anyone asks you: Why do you loosen it? You shall say this: Because the Lord has need of it.
Those who were sent went and found it just+ as He had said to them.
As they were loosing the colt, the owners said to them: Why are you loosening the colt?
They said: The Lord has need of it.
Then they brought it to Jesus and they cast their garments upon the colt and sat Jesus upon+ it.
And as He went, they spread their clothes in the way. Zechariah 9:9
When He had come near, even now at the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen,
saying: Blessed be the King that comes in the name of the Lord. Peace in heaven and glory in the highest. Psalm 118:26
Some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said to Him: Master, rebuke your disciples.
He answered and said to them: I tell you that if these should remain silent+ the stones would immediately cry out.
As Jesus came near, He saw+ the city and wept over it
saying: If you had only known, even you, at least in this your day, the things that are for your peace. But now they are hid from your eyes.
For the days will come upon you in which your enemies will cast a blockade+ around+ you and surround+ you and keep you in on every side
and knock you to the ground, and your children within you. They will not leave in you stone upon stone because you did not understand+ the time of your visitation.
Then Jesus went into the temple and began to cast out those who bought and sold therein,
saying to them: It is written: My house is the house of prayer. But you have made it a den of thieves. Matthew 21:13
Jesus taught in the temple daily, but the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy Him.
But they could not find what they might do, for all the people were very attentive to hear Him.
