Luke Chapter 21

Then Jesus looked up and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.
And He also saw a certain poor widow casting in there two mites, worth about a penny.
He said: Truly I say to you, that this poor widow has cast in more than all of them.
For all these have cast into the offerings of God out of their abundance, but she, even out of her poverty+, has cast in all the means of livelihood+ that she had.
Later as some spoke about the temple, how it was adorned with fine+ stones and gifts, Jesus said:
As for these things that you behold, the days will come in which there will not be left stone upon stone that will not be thrown down.
Then they asked Him saying: Master, but when shall these things be? And what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?
He said: Take heed so that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name saying: I am Christ, and the time draws near. Do not go after them.
When you hear about wars and commotions, do not be terrified. For these things must come to pass first, but the end is not immediately+.
Then He said to them: Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom.
Great earthquakes will be in many different+ places, and famines and pestilences. Fearful sights and great signs from heaven will occur+.
But before all these, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and into prisons, and bringing you before kings and rulers for my name's sake.
But this will turn to you for a testimony.
Therefore, be settled in your hearts to not meditate before hand what or how you will answer.
For I will give you a mouth and wisdom that all your adversaries will not be able to speak against+ nor stand against+.
You will be betrayed by both parents and brothers and close relatives+ and friends, and they will even put to death some from among+ you.
You will be hated by all because of my name.
But not a hair of your head will perish.
In your patience, possess your souls.
When you see Jerusalem surrounded+ with armies, then know that its desolation is near.
Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let those who are in the midst of it depart. And do not let those who are in other countries enter into there.
For these are the days of vengeance so that all the things that are written may be fulfilled. Isaiah 61:2
But woe to those who are with child and to those who are nursing+ in those days. For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people.
They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led away captive into all nations. Jerusalem will be trampled+ down by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
There will be signs in the Sun and in the Moon and in the stars. And upon the Earth, distress of nations, with perplexity. The sea and the waves will roar.
Men's hearts will fail them for fear and for expectation+ of those things that are coming upon the world+. For the powers of heaven will be shaken.
Then they will see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
When these things begin to come to pass, look up and lift up your heads. For your redemption draws near.
Then Jesus spoke a parable to them: Behold the fig tree and all the trees.
When they shoot forth, you see and know of yourselves that summer is now very near+.
So likewise when you see these things come to pass, know that the kingdom of God is very near.
Truly+ I say to you: This generation will not pass away until all be fulfilled.
Heaven and Earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
Take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overburdened+ with excesses+ and drunkenness and the cares of this life so that judgment day comes upon you unexpectedly+.
For it will come like+ a snare upon all those who dwell on the face of the whole Earth.
Therefore watch and pray always so that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass and to stand before the Son of man.
In the daytime Jesus taught in the temple. At night He went out and stayed+ on the mountain that is called the Mount of Olives.
And all the people came to Him early in the morning to hear Him in the temple.
