Matthew Chapter 5

Seeing the multitudes, Jesus went up into a mountain and when He sat down His disciples came to Him.
And He opened His mouth and taught them saying:
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the Earth. Psalm 37:11
Blessed are those who do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. Proverbs 11:17
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. Isaiah 8:12
Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and say all kinds+ of evil against you falsely for my sake.
Rejoice and be exceedingly glad. For great is your reward in Heaven. For so likewise did they persecute the prophets who were before you. 2 Chronicles 36:16
You are the salt of the Earth, but if salt has lost its savor, with what will it be salted? It is thereafter+ good for nothing but to be cast out and trampled+ under foot+.
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.
Nor do people+ light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick so that it gives light to all who are in the house.
Let your light so shine before people that they may see your good works and glorify~ your Father in Heaven.
Do not think that I have come to destroy the law or the prophets. I have not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
For truly+ I say to you: Until Heaven and Earth pass, one jot or one smallest mark+ shall in no way+ pass from the law until all is fulfilled.
Whoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments and shall teach people+ to do so shall be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But whoever shall do them and teach them, the same shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.
For I say to you: Unless+ your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall in no case enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
You have heard that it was said of old+: You shall not kill and whoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment. Exodus 20:13
But I say to you: Whoever is angry with one of the family+ of God without a just cause shall be in danger of the judgment. Whoever says to one of the family+: Raca~, to offend, shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says: You fool, shall be in danger of Hell fire.
Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar and there remember that one of your family+ has anything+ against you,
leave your gift there before the altar and go first to be reconciled to your family+ and then come and offer your gift.
Agree with your adversary quickly while you are on the way with them, lest at any time the adversary deliver you to the judge and the judge deliver you to the officer and you be cast into prison. Proverbs 25:8
Truly+ I say to you: You shall by no means come out from there+ until you have paid the very last+ penny+.
You have heard that it was said of old+: You shall not commit adultery. Exodus 20:14
But I say to you that whoever looks upon a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. Proverbs 6:25
If your right eye causes+ you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish and not that your whole body should be cast into Hell.
If your right hand causes+ you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish and not that your whole body should be cast into Hell.
It has been said: Whoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a written divorce+. Deuteronomy 24:1
But I say to you that whoever shall put away his wife, except+ for the cause of fornication~, causes them+ to commit adultery~. And whoever shall marry one who is thus divorced~ commits adultery. Deuteronomy 24:1
Again, you have heard that it was said of old+: You shall not perjure+ yourself but shall perform your oaths to the Lord. Numbers 30:2
But I say to you: Do not swear oaths at all. Not by Heaven for it is God's throne
nor by the Earth for it is His footstool. And not by Jerusalem for it is the city of the great King.
Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair black or white.
But let your communication be simply yes for yes and no for no. For whatever is more than these comes of evil.
You have heard that it has been said: An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. Exodus 21:24
But I say to you: Do not retaliate+ against evil, but whoever shall strike+ you on your right cheek, turn to them the other also. Proverbs 24:29
If anyone will sue you at the law and take away your coat, let them have your vest+ also.
Whoever shall compel you to go a mile, go with them two.
Give to those who ask you and from those who would borrow from you do not turn away. Proverbs 19:17
You have heard that it has been said: You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. Leviticus 19:18
But I say to you: Love your enemies. Bless those who curse you. Do good to those who hate you. And pray for those who despitefully use you and persecute you Proverbs 16:7
so that you may be the children of your Father in Heaven. For He makes His Sun to rise on the evil and on the good and He sends rain on the righteous+ and on the unrighteous+.
For if you love those who love you, what reward will you have? Do not even worldly+ people the same?
And if you greet+ your family+ only, what do you do more than others? Do not even worldly+ people so?
Therefore be perfect~ even as your Father in Heaven is perfect. Leviticus 19:2
