Matthew Chapter 12

At that time, Jesus went through a corn field on the Sabbath day. His disciples were hungry and began to pluck the ears of corn and eat.
When the Pharisees saw this, they said to Him: Behold your disciples do what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath day.
But Jesus said to them: Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, and those who were with him?
How he entered the house of God and ate the show bread that was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests?
Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath and are blameless?
But I say to you: In this place is one greater than the temple.
But if you had known what this means: I will have mercy and not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the innocent+. Hosea 6:6
For the Son of man is Lord even of the Sabbath day.
When He departed from there+, He went into their synagogue.
And behold there was a man who had a withered hand and they asked Him saying: Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath days? They did this so that they might accuse Him.
Jesus said to them: What man shall there be among you who shall have one sheep and, if it fall into a pit on the Sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it and lift it out?
And how much then is a man better than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do good+ on the Sabbath days.
Then He said to the man: Stretch forth your hand. And he stretched it forth and it was restored whole like the other.
Then the Pharisees went out and held a council against Him, to decide how they might destroy Him.
But when Jesus knew this, He withdrew from there+. Great multitudes followed Him and He healed them all.
And He charged them to not make Him known.
This fulfilled what the prophet Isaiah had said:
Behold my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved in whom my soul is well pleased. I will put my spirit upon Him and He will show judgment to the Gentiles. Isaiah 42:1
He will not strive or cry. Nor will anyone hear His voice in the streets. Isaiah 42:2
A bruised reed He will not break and smoking flax He will not quench until He sends forth judgment to victory. Isaiah 42:3
In His name will the Gentiles trust. Isaiah 42:4
Then one who was demon+ possessed was brought to Him, blind and speechless+. Jesus healed him so that the blind and speechless+ one both spoke and saw.
All the people were amazed and said: Is this not the son of David?
But when the Pharisees heard this they said: This fellow does not cast out demons+ except+ by Beelzebub the prince of the demons+.
Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them: Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation. Every city or house divided against itself will not stand. Proverbs 11:29
If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?
And if I cast out demons+ by Beelzebub, then by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges.
But if I cast out demons+ by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come to you.
Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house and spoil his goods, unless+ he first bind the strong man, and then he will spoil his house.
Those who are not with me are against me. Those who do not gather with me scatter.
Therefore I say to you: All kinds+ of sin and blasphemy will be forgiven to people+, but blasphemy~ against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven to people+.
Whoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven them. But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven them. Not in this world or in the world to come.
Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree corrupt and its fruit corrupt. For the tree is known by its fruit.
O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
A good person+ out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things. An evil person+ out of evil treasure brings forth evil things. Psalm 19:14 Proverbs 10:11
But I say to you that for every idle word that people+ speak, they will give an account of it on the day of judgment.
For by your words you will be justified and by your words you will be condemned.
Then some of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered saying: Master, we would like to see a sign from you.
But He answered and said to them: An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign. There shall no sign be given to it but the sign of the prophet Jonah.
For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale, so will the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the Earth. Jonah 1:17
The men of Nineveh will rise in judgment with this generation and will condemn it because they repented at the proclaiming+ of Jonah. And behold one greater than Jonah is here. Jonah 3:5
The queen of the south will rise up in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it. For she came from the ends+ of the Earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold one greater than Solomon is here. 1 Kings 10:1
When the unclean spirit is gone out of someone, he walks through dry places seeking rest and finds none.
So he says: I will return to my house from which I came out, and when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order+.
Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself and they all enter in and dwell there. So the last state of that person+ is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also to this wicked generation.
While He yet talked to the people, behold His mother and His brothers stood outside+ desiring to speak with Him.
Then one said to Him: Behold your mother and your brothers stand outside+ desiring to speak with you.
But He answered and said to the one who spoke+ to Him: Who is my mother? And who are my brothers?
Then He stretched forth His hand toward His disciples and said: Behold my mother and my brothers.
For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven, the same is my brother and sister and mother.
