Matthew Chapter 17

After six days, Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother up to a high mountain apart
and He was transfigured right there before them. His face did shine like+ the sun and His clothing+ was as white as the light.
And behold there appeared to them Moses and Elijah talking with Him.
Then Peter answered and said to Jesus: Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you will, let us make three tabernacles here. One for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.
While he spoke, behold a bright cloud overshadowed them and behold a voice out of the cloud said: This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him. Psalm 2:7
When the disciples heard this they fell on their faces and were greatly+ afraid.
Jesus came and touched them and said: Arise and do not be afraid.
When they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one except+ Jesus.
Then as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them saying: Tell the vision to no one until the Son of man is risen from the dead.
His disciples asked Him saying: Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?
Jesus answered and said to them: Elijah truly will come first and restore all things. Malachi 4:6
But I say to you that Elijah has already come and they did not know him, but have done to him whatever they desired+. Likewise will the Son of man also suffer by them. Malachi 4:5
Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them of John the Baptist.
When they had come to the multitude, a certain man came to Him, kneeling down to Him and saying:
Lord have mercy on my son for he is a lunatic and greatly+ oppressed+, for often times he falls into the fire and often into the water.
I brought him to your disciples and they could not cure him.
Then Jesus answered and said: O faithless and perverse generation. How long shall I be with you? How long shall I endure+ you? Bring him here to me.
Jesus rebuked the demon+ and he departed out of him and the child was cured from that very hour.
Then the disciples came to Jesus privately+ and said: Why could we not cast him out?
Jesus said to them: It was because of your unbelief. For truly+ I say to you: If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain: Move from here to there+ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible to you.
However this kind does not go out but by prayer and fasting.
While they abode in Galilee Jesus said to them: The Son of man will be betrayed into the hands of men.
They will kill Him and the third day He will be raised again. And they were exceedingly sorry.
When they had come to Capernaum, those who received tribute money came to Peter and said: Does your master not pay tribute?
He said: Yes. And when he had come into the house, Jesus preceded+ him saying: What do you think, Simon? From+ whom do the kings of the Earth take custom or tribute? From+ their own children or from+ strangers?
Peter said to Him: From+ strangers. Jesus said to him: Then the children are free.
Nevertheless, lest we should offend them, go to the sea, throw+ in a hook, and take up the first fish that comes up. When you have opened its mouth you will find a piece of money. Take that and give it to them for me and for you.
