Matthew Chapter 21

When they drew near to Jerusalem and had come to Bethphage to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples
saying to them: Go into the village before+ you and immediately+ you will find a donkey+ tied and a colt with her. Loose it and bring it to me.
If anyone+ says anything+ to you, you shall say: The Lord has need of them, and immediately+ they will send them.
All this was done to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet who said:
Tell the daughter of Zion+: Behold your King comes to you meek and sitting upon a donkey+ and a colt, the foal of a donkey. Isaiah 62:11 Zechariah 9:9
The disciples did as Jesus commanded them.
They brought the donkey+ and the colt and put their clothes on them and Jesus sat on the colt.
A very great multitude spread their garments along+ the way. Others cut down branches from the trees and spread+ them along+ the way.
The multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out saying: Hosanna to the son of David. Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Psalm 118:26
When He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved saying: Who is this?
The multitude said: This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.
Then Jesus went into the temple of God and cast out all those who bought and sold in the temple and He overthrew the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves
and said to them: It is written: My house shall be called the house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves. Isaiah 56:7 Jeremiah 7:11
The blind and the lame came to Him in the temple and He healed them. Isaiah 35:5
When the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that He did and the children crying in the temple and saying: Hosanna to the son of David, they were greatly+ displeased.
They said to Him: Hear what these people+ say? Jesus said to them: Yes. Have you never read: Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants+ you have perfected praise? Psalm 8:2
Then He left them and went out of the city to Bethany and He lodged there.
Now in the morning as He returned to the city He was hungry.
When He saw a fig tree on the way, He came to it and found nothing on it except+ leaves and said to it: Let no fruit grow on you henceforth forever. And immediately+ the fig tree withered away.
When the disciples saw this, they marveled saying: How soon the fig tree has withered away.
Jesus answered and said to them: Truly+ I say to you: If you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do this to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain: Be removed and be cast into the sea, it will be done.
All things whatsoever you ask in prayer believing, you will receive.
When He had come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to Him as He was teaching and said: By what authority do you do these things? And who gave you this authority?
Jesus answered and said to them: I will also ask you one thing. If you tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things.
The baptism of John, from where was it authorized? From heaven, or from+ men? They reasoned with themselves saying: If we say: From heaven, He will say to us: Why did you not then believe him?
But if we say: From men, we fear the people for all hold John as a prophet.
They answered Jesus and said: We cannot tell. And He said to them: Then neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.
But what do you think of this? A certain man had two sons. He came to the first and said: Son, go work today in my vineyard.
The son answered and said: I will not, but afterward he repented and went.
He came to the second and said likewise. And the second son answered and said: I will go sir, but he did not go.
Now which of them did the will of his father? They said to Him: The first. Jesus said to them: Truly+ I say to you that the worldly+ people and harlots will go into the kingdom of God before you.
For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him, but the worldly+ people and the harlots believed him. You, when you had seen it, did not repent afterward so that you might believe him.
Now hear another parable: There was a certain property owner+ who planted a vineyard and built a fence+ around it, dug a wine press in it, built a tower, let it out to tenant farmers+, and went into a far country. Isaiah 5:2
When the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the tenant farmers+ so that they might receive the fruits of it.
But the tenant farmers+ took his servants, beat one, killed another, and stoned another.
Again, he sent other servants more than the first and they did to them likewise.
But last of all he sent his son to them saying: Surely they will reverence my son.
But when the tenant farmers+ saw the son, they said among themselves: This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and let us seize his inheritance.
So they caught him and cast him out of the vineyard and killed+ him.
Now then when the lord~ of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenant farmers+?
They said to Him: He will miserably destroy those wicked men and will lease+ his vineyard to other tenant farmers+ who will render to him the fruits in their seasons.
Jesus said to them: Did you never read in the Scriptures: The stone that the builders rejected has become the head of the corner. This is the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in our eyes. Psalm 118:22
Therefore I say to you: The kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
Whoever falls on this stone will be broken. But on whomever it falls, it will grind them to powder.
When the chief priests and Pharisees had heard His parables, they perceived that He spoke of them.
But when they sought to lay hands on Him, they feared the multitude because they took Him for a prophet.
