Philippians Chapter 1 1 From Paul and Timothy, servants of Jesus Christ. To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons.2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and Lord Jesus Christ.3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.4 Always, in every prayer of mine for you all, I ask+ with joy5 for your fellowship in the Gospel, from the first day until now.6 I am confident of this: That He who has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.7 It is right+ for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart. Inasmuch as both in my chains+ and in the defense and confirmation of the Gospel, you are all partakers with me of grace.8 For God is my witness+, how greatly I long for you all in the tender+ mercies of Jesus Christ.9 This I pray: That your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment~,10 so that you may approve things that are excellent and so that you may be sincere and without offense until the day of Christ.11 Be filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.12 I want you to understand, family+, that the things that have happened to me have turned+ out instead+ to the advancement+ of the Gospel,13 so that my chains+ in Christ are known+ in all the palace and in all other places.14 Many of the family+ in the Lord, growing+ more confident because of my chains+, are much more bold to speak the Word without fear.15 Indeed, some proclaim+ Christ from envy and strife, but some also from good will.16 Those who proclaim+ Christ from contention and not sincerely are supposing to add suffering+ to my chains+.17 But the others do so out of love, knowing that I am set for the defense of the Gospel.18 What then? Even so+, in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed+, and I rejoice in this. Yes, and I will continue to rejoice.19 For I know that this will turn to my salvation through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ.20 According to my earnest expectation and hope, I will be ashamed in nothing. But with all boldness, now, as always, Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.22 If I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labor. Yet I do not know+ what I shall choose.23 For I am in a strait between+ two desires. Having a desire to depart and to be with Christ, which is far better.24 Nevertheless, desiring to remain+ in the flesh is more necessary+ for you.25 But I have this confidence: I know that I shall remain+ and continue with you all for your advancement+ and joy of faith,26 so that your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again.27 Only let your conversation~ and conduct be worthy+ of the Gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or else must be absent, I may hear that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the Gospel.28 Do not be frightened+ by your adversaries. That will be, to them, an evidence of their damnation+, and of your salvation, and that from God.29 For it is given to you, on the behalf of Christ, to not only believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake.30 You may have conflicts just as you saw in mine and now hear about in mine.
