Revelation Chapter 1 1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ that was given by the One who is God to show His servants those things that must soon+ come to pass. He sent this communication+ through His angel to His servant John.2 John testified+ about the Word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ and about all the things that he saw.3 Blessed are those who read and who hear the words of this prophecy and keep those things that are written here. For the time is very near+.4 From John, to the seven assemblies+ of believers in Asia. Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before His throne.5 From Jesus Christ who is the faithful witness, the firstborn+ of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the Earth. To Him who loves us and washes us from our sins by His own blood,6 and makes us kings and priests to God and His Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.7 Behold, He will come after+ clouds and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him. All families+ of the Earth will mourn+ because of Him. Even so, Amen.8 I am the Alpha and the Omega: The beginning and the end, says the Lord who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.9 I John, your brother and companion in tribulation and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was on the island called Patmos because of the Word of God and testimony of Jesus Christ.10 I became in the Spirit on the Lord's day and heard a great voice behind me, sounding like+ that of a trumpet.11 The voice said: I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last. What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven assemblies+ of believers in Asia: To Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.12 I turned to see the voice that spoke to me and I saw seven golden candlesticks.13 In the midst of the seven candlesticks was one like the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot and belted+ about the chest+ with a golden belt+.14 His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire.15 His feet were like fine brass as though they burned in a furnace. His voice was like the sound of many waters.16 In His right hand He held seven stars. A sharp, two edged sword came forth out of His mouth, and His countenance~ was like the sun shine in its power+.17 When I saw Him, I fell at His feet as though dead. But then He laid His right hand on me, saying to me: Do not be afraid. I Am The First and The Last.18 As one living, I became dead, and behold I am now alive forever~ and ever. Amen. And I have the keys to Hell and to death.19 Write down the things that you have just seen and the things that are now before you and the things that are about to come to pass.20 The mystery~ of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and the seven golden candlesticks: The seven stars are the angels of the seven assemblies+. The seven candlesticks that you saw are the seven assemblies+.
