Revelation Chapter 8 1 When the Lamb opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.2 Then I saw the seven angels standing before God and seven trumpets were given to them.3 Another angel came and stood at the altar with a golden censer and much incense was given to him so that he could offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar that was before the throne.4 The smoke of the incense that came with the prayers of the saints ascended up from the angel's hand to God.5 Then the angel filled the censer with fire from the alter and cast it onto the Earth and there were voices and thunder and lightning and a great Earthquake.6 The seven angels with the seven trumpets then prepared to sound.7 The first angel sounded and hail and fire mingled with blood were cast down upon the Earth. One third of all the trees and all of the green grass was burned up.8 The second angel sounded and it was as though a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea and one third of the sea became like blood.9 One third of all the creatures living in the sea died and one third of all ships were destroyed.10 The third angel sounded and a great star fell from heaven burning like a lamp and falling upon a third of all the rivers and fountains of waters.11 The name of this star was Wormwood and one third of the waters that it fell upon became wormwood poisoned. Many people+ died because the waters were made bitter with poison.12 The fourth angel sounded and one third of the Sun and Moon and stars were struck+ so that one third of them were darkened. Therefore for one third of each day and night the sun, moon, and stars did not shine.13 Then I saw+ and heard an angel flying through the midst of Heaven saying with a loud voice: Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabitants of the Earth because+ of the other voices of the trumpets of the three angels that are yet to sound.
