Revelation Chapter 18 1 After all these things, I saw another angel come down from Heaven with such great power that the Earth was illuminated+ with his glory.2 He cried out mightily with a strong voice saying: Babylon the great has fallen, yes fallen. It has become the habitation of demons+ and prison+ for every unclean+ spirit and prison+ for every unclean and hated bird. Isaiah 21:93 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. The kings of the Earth have committed fornication with her and the merchants of the Earth have grown+ rich through the abundance of her delicacies.4 Then I heard another voice from Heaven saying: Come away from her my people so that you will not be partakers of her sins and so that you will not receive her plagues.5 For her sins have reached to Heaven and God has remembered her iniquities.6 Reward her even as she rewarded you and double to her. Give her double according to her works in the cup that she has filled, fill her double.7 Consider how much she has glorified herself and lived deliciously, and give her that much torment and sorrow. For she said in her heart: I sit as a queen I am no widow. I shall see no sorrow.8 Therefore, all her plagues shall come in one day: death, mourning, and famine. She shall be utterly burned with fire. For the Lord God who judges her is strong.9 The kings of the Earth who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her will wail and mourn+ for her when they see the smoke from her burning.10 They will stand a far distance away for fear of her torment saying: Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city. In one hour, your judgment has come.11 The merchants of the Earth will weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise any more.12 Their merchandise included gold and silver, precious stones and pearls, fine linen in purple, silk and scarlet, all kinds of fragrant+ wood, all kinds+ of ivory vessels, all kinds+ of vessels in precious wood, brass, iron, and marble,13 cinnamon, fragrances+, ointments, frankincense, wine, oil, fine flour, wheat, beasts, sheep, horses, chariots, slaves, and people's very souls.14 The fruits that your soul lusted after are gone+ from you. All the things that were dainty and fine+ are gone+ from you. You shall no longer find them at all.15 The merchants of all these things who were made rich by her will stand a far distance away for fear of her torment, weeping, and wailing.16 They will say: Alas, alas, for that great city that was clothed in fine linen, purple and scarlet, and decked with gold, precious stones, and pearls.17 For in one hour such+ great riches have come to nothing. Every ship master and all the company in ships and sailors and all+ who trade by sea, stood at a far distance away.18 They all cried out when they saw the smoke from her burning, saying: What city is like this great city.19 They threw+ dust on their heads and cried out, weeping and wailing, saying: Alas, alas, that great city in which all who had ships in the sea were made rich by her wealth+, in one hour she is made desolate.20 Rejoice over her demise, O Heaven and holy apostles and prophets. For God has avenged you on her.21 Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and cast it into the sea saying: Thus with violence that great city Babylon is thrown down, no longer+ to be found at all.22 The voices of harpists, musicians, pipers, and trumpeters will no longer+ be heard in you at all. No craftsman of any kind of craft will be found in you any more. The sound of a millstone will no longer+ be heard in you at all.23 The light of a candle will no longer+ shine in you at all. The voices of brides and grooms will no longer+ be heard in you at all. Your merchants were the great men of the Earth, but all the nations were deceived by your sorceries~.24 The blood of prophets, saints, and all who have been slain on the Earth by her order is found in Babylon.
