Revelation Chapter 21 1 Now I saw a new Heaven and a new Earth. For the first Heaven and the first Earth had passed away and there was no more sea.2 Then I John saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of Heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.3 I heard a great voice out of Heaven saying: Behold the tabernacle of God is with men and He will live with them and they shall be His people and God Himself will be with them and be their God.4 And God will wipe away all tears from their eyes. There will be no more death nor sorrow nor crying nor any more pain. For the former things are now passed away.5 Then the Lord God who sat upon the throne said: Behold, I make everything new. And He said to me: Write this down, for these words are true and faithful.6 And He said to me: It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to those who are thirsty from the fountain of the water of life freely.7 Those who overcome will inherit everything. I will be their God and they will be my children.8 But the fearful and unbelieving and the abominable and murderers and fornicators+ and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars will have their part in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone. For that is the second death.9 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven vials filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me saying: Come here, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.10 He carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of Heaven from God.11 Its light radiated with the glory of God like a most precious stone, like crystal clear jasper.12 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates and twelve angels at the gates and the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel written on them.13 There were three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west.14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.15 The angel who talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city and its gates and its walls.16 The city lay foursquare with its length equally as long as its breadth. He measured the city with the reed, and it was fifteen hundred miles+. Its length, breadth, and height were all equal.17 He measured the wall as one hundred and forty four cubits, or 216 feet, according to the human+ measure used by the angel.18 The wall was made+ of jasper and the city was pure gold as clear as glass.19 The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned+ with all kinds+ of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third quartz+, the fourth an emerald,20 the fifth onyx+, the sixth ruby+, the seventh golden topaz+ the eighth beryl, the ninth green topaz, the tenth green agate+, the eleventh blue hyacinth+, and the twelfth an amethyst.21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls. Each gate was made of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold as though it were transparent glass.22 But no temple could be seen there, for the Lord God Almighty Himself is the temple and the Lamb.23 The city had no need for the Sun or the Moon to shine there, for the glory of God illuminated+ it, and the Lamb is its light.24 The nations of those who are saved will walk in this light and the kings of the Earth will bring their glory and honor into it.25 Its gates will not be shut any day and there will not be any night there.26 And the Lord will bring the glory and honor of the nations, all true believers, into it.27 But none+ who defile or work abominations or lie shall enter into it. Only those whose names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life shall enter.
