Question: Why does AV7 show some words in
italics ?
Answer: Words shown in
italics in The AV7 Bible text
are shown that way to clearly identify them as interpolatively added
words in order to distinguish them from word-for-word translated words.
This practice has been used for more than 400 years ago, and it is
continued in The AV7 Bible to help readers instantly recognize this
very important distinction.
Interpolatively added words (in italics) are sometimes used to
clarify the meaning of certain verses while preserving readers'
ability to visually recognize the word-for-word literal translation
accuracy in the text.
Interpolatively added words are also sometimes used to clarify
who is speaking to whom by replacing non-descript pronouns such
as, "He said to him ..." with something much clearer
like this, for example:
"Jesus said to
John ..."
There are several additional benefits that become apparent
in being able to quickly, visually distinguish between literal
word-for-word translated words and interpolatively added words
shown in italics as one reads the Bible.
